Stake is a crypto-first sportsbook and casino run from stake.com. For a punter in Nigeria two pages of its help centre matter most: one lists naira deposits by Visa and Mastercard with their limits, the other sets out the Nigerian ID it accepts. There is no deposit-match welcome bonus. A new customer gets rakeback through a code, plus a sportsbook with cash out, same game multis and a long list of coins to pay with.

Verdict

Who Stake suits, and who should look elsewhere

Stake suits a punter who already holds USDT or Bitcoin, or is happy to pay by card, and who cares more about cash out and bet types than about a welcome bonus. It is a weaker choice if you deposit by bank transfer, USSD, OPay or PalmPay, because Stake’s help centre does not list those for Nigeria, or if you want your first deposit matched.

Best for

Punters who pay by card or crypto and want cash out and flexible multis more than a deposit bonus.

Think twice if

You rely on bank transfer, USSD, OPay or PalmPay, or you are looking for a matched first-deposit bonus.

What we like

  • Naira deposits and withdrawals by Visa and Mastercard, ₦200 to ₦4,000,000
  • Cash out, same game multis and Stake Shield on accas
  • No maximum on crypto withdrawals, with a fee published for each coin

Watch out for

  • No matched deposit bonus; the welcome offer is 3.5% rakeback
  • Bank transfer, USSD, OPay and PalmPay are not listed for Nigeria
  • Offshore Curaçao licence; not on the Lagos register

Bonus

Stake welcome offer: rakeback, not a deposit match

Stake does not run a classic deposit match. Its welcome offer is rakeback: enter a valid code on the offers page within 24 hours of opening the account and you receive 3.5% of the house edge back on what you play, a reward otherwise given at Bronze VIP level. After 24 hours the code can no longer be entered.

Rakeback is small money by design. Stake’s rakeback page works sports out as 3.5% of a theoretical 3% edge, so ₦100,000 of settled sports bets gives back about ₦105. Voided bets and bets you cash out earn nothing.

The rest sits on the VIP ladder. Bronze starts at $10,000 wagered, with each $1 on sports counted as $3 of progress, and brings weekly boosts and monthly bonuses. Some welcome bonuses also carry a deposit bonus requirement, a multiplier on deposit plus bonus that must be bet before any withdrawal. Stake’s own example is 30x on a $100 deposit with a $100 bonus: $6,000 of bets. Check your account for that progress bar before you accept a code.

Deposits and withdrawals

Stake deposits in Nigeria: naira by card, or crypto

Stake’s card deposit page lists Nigeria with NGN on both Visa and Mastercard, at a limit of ₦200 to ₦4,000,000. Deposits are described as near real time, with some taking one to three business days. The option sits under Wallet, Deposit, Local Currency and appears only where it is available for your currency and location, so look for it before you plan around it. Bank transfer, USSD, OPay and PalmPay are not listed for Nigeria.

Crypto is the main route. Stake supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Tron, Solana and more, each on named networks: USDT, for example, on ERC20, BEP20, Polygon, Tron and Solana. Send each coin only on a network Stake lists for it. Stake sets no maximum on crypto deposits, and coins can be bought inside the wallet through MoonPay or Swapped.

Whichever route you choose, pay from a card or wallet that is yours, and verify your email before you ask for a first withdrawal.

Withdrawals

Stake withdrawal: wager the deposit once, then card or crypto

Every deposit on Stake has to be wagered once in full before you can withdraw, and the same rule covers deposits in local currency. Deposit the equivalent of ₦20,000 and you need ₦20,000 of bets first; a tracking bar on the withdrawal page shows what is left. Sports bets count when they are settled, not when they are placed, so an acca that finishes on Sunday does not free a withdrawal on Saturday. A withdrawal requested straight after a deposit, with no bets placed, is treated as invalid.

Card withdrawals are open only to customers who deposited by card. The money goes back to that same card and can take up to three business days to reach the bank once Stake has processed it.

Crypto withdrawals go to an address you enter, confirmed with a 2FA code, an email code or OAuth. Stake sets no maximum, but each coin has a minimum and a fee: for USDT the page lists a 2.5 USDT minimum and a 1 USDT fee. Larger withdrawals can be held for manual processing.

Verification

Stake verification in Nigeria: the ID it accepts

Stake has a proof-of-identity page for Nigeria. It accepts an international passport, a national ID card, a driving licence, a voter’s card or the NIN slip card in plastic card format, with both sides photographed for the cards. No other document is accepted.

The format rules are the part to read closely. The photo must be the original image, in colour and high resolution, with the whole document lying flat, readable and free of flash glare. Screenshots and documents in digital format are refused, the document has to be valid for at least three more months and it must be in Latin script. A paper NIN slip or a digital NIN in an app does not fit the plastic-card rule.

Stake’s compliance team can ask for documents at any time, and that can include proof of address: a utility bill, bank statement or tenancy agreement issued in the last six months. A mobile phone bill does not count. Have these ready before a big win, not after it.

Cash out

Stake cash out, same game multis and Stake Shield

Stake offers cash out on sports bets, and its cash out page is plain about when the button disappears. The market has to be open with live odds; if it is suspended or the event has no live coverage, there is nothing to cash out against. A time delay applies to every cash out, so an attempt can fail when the odds move during it. Same game multis cannot be cashed out, and player prop bets only before the match starts. The value offered can be above or below your stake.

Stake Shield is the other tool for accas. On a multi of three or more legs you choose how many legs must win for the bet to pay, at reduced odds shown on the bet slip before you confirm. It is optional. In an ordinary multi, one losing leg loses the bet and a void leg is settled at odds of 1.00.

Neither tool changes the arithmetic of a long acca; each one trades some of the payout for less risk. That trade-off is the whole question with any cash out.

Licence

Is Stake legal in Nigeria? The Curaçao licence

Stake.com names Medium Rare N.V. as its operator, under Curaçao licence OGL/2024/1451/0918. That is an offshore licence. Stake is not on the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority register.

In practice your account is with a Curaçao company and a dispute is handled under its terms, not by a Nigerian gaming authority. Stake does take customers from Nigeria, as the naira card limits and the Nigerian ID page show, but taking customers and holding a local licence are different things. Keep your bet IDs and payment records from the first deposit onwards.

The bottom line

Stake: the bottom line for Nigerian punters

Stake is worth a look if you already pay by card or hold crypto and you want cash out and flexible multis more than a welcome bonus. Have your ID ready in the format Stake asks for, wager each deposit once before you request it back, and start with an amount you would not miss. Betting is for adults aged 18 and over, and every stake can be lost.
